The Groynes Recreational Reserve
The Groynes offers variety and fun for all ages and its right next door! Including walking tracks, picnic areas and coin-operated barbeques, trout fishing opportunities, the lakes and waterways provide both recreational activities, a variety of fun watercraft are available for hire, and habitat for wildlife such as trout and waterfowl. A suspension bridge crosses the river to a lake used by the Christchurch Model Yacht Club.
Willowbank Wildlife Park & Restaurant
Just 10 minues away at Willowbank you’ll find such a wide range of New Zealand wildlife. Willowbank provides you with a “Kiwi Guarantee” and is home to New Zealand’s largest and most accessible kiwi viewing area. With this unique experience, you will see our natural splendour first hand, and see Kiwis that aren’t displayed behind glass. Much of the wildlife wanders free in natural bush surroundings, and is able to be petted and fed.

Kotane Maori Experience

The international Antarctic Centre is located in the Antarctic campus near the Christchurch airport. Attractions include the snow and ice experience (brave an Antarctic ice storm at -18C), Hagglund rides, Interactive gallery and penguin encounter.
New Zealand’s only open range wildlife and conservation centre specialising in endangered African and New Zealand Animals. Sited on 80 hectares the park is home to more than 400 animals from 70 countries. Attractions include hand feeding Giraffes, meet Rhinos face to face, See lions and tigers feeding, enjoy native NZ animals including the Kiwi.
Action Indoor Dirt Track Go Carts<
An indoor race track based on clay surface, track can be set up as oval or cornered track, banked corners, timed races or laps with printouts of results and with visual display. Casual rides and group bookings. Open from 10am until late 7 days a week.

Adrenalin forest has 6 pathways from 1.5 meters to 20 meters high. There are many activities, the course takes an average of 3 hours to complete. It is suitable for a wide range of ages and fitness levels. A great family activity.
Punting on the Avon
